Now in its third year, Zoom is a short film scheme to support the production of short films, shot digitally, by up-and-coming British Deaf filmmaking talent. The completed films will be broadcast on Film Four and the Community Channel by the British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust.

The BSLBT is committed to creating opportunities for up and coming Deaf filmmaking talent. Administered and supported by Neath Films, Zoom will provide successful filmmakers with:

.	Up to £4,500 of funding to make a short film up to 24 minutes in length 

.	The opportunity to work with Neath Films to make their film

.	Standard production insurance cover

.	Production support

.	Post-production support including offline edit suites, grade and online edit

What we are looking for:

Any genre will be considered. Zoom films must be between 10 and 15 minutes in length. Zoom Focus applicants must be confident of delivering a short film of 24 minutes in length.

Genres may include narrative drama, comedy, documentary, animation or experimental. 

The films must be suitable for viewing by ALL ages and must be suitable for 8 am pre-watershed viewing.

Dialogue in the films should be at least 80% British Sign Language. 


Who we are looking for:

The Zoom scheme is open to Deaf Directors and Deaf Writer/Directors resident in the United Kingdom aged 18 or over.

We would like Zoom applicants to have some experience of filmmaking, however, we are open to applications from inexperienced filmmakers who we feel have an excellent proposal that can be worked with.

Zoom Focus is aimed at intermediate level film makers. Please only apply for Zoom Focus if you feel confident of being able to make a film of 24 minutes in length.

All projects must be British Sign Language led. The main application must come from a Deaf writer/director or writer director team. For this scheme Non-Deaf directors and writers are not eligible to apply. The ethos behind the scheme is the development of Deaf talent.
